NEW trees have been planted in a garden of remembrance on the site of an enemy bombing campaign during the Second World War.
On October 21, 1941 the Zetland Club in Coathan Road, Redcar was destroyed by bombing and 15 people were killed.
The site was cleared but left until last year, when a garden of remembrance was created and opened on October 21.
The ground was blessed and the names of those killed were unveiled and the Burma Star Association memorial was moved to the garden.
The work was carried out thanks to donations from local people and work by people on community service and the staff and students at the Redcar and Cleveland College.
It is hoped money can be raised for an entrance arch.
To mark the continuing work, the wife of the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Iris Dobson planted a tree at the site on Saturday, and a tree was planted on behalf of local councillor Jean White.
