ACROBATIC tots can now tire themselves out in the safety of their own baby gym.
Babies aged from four months to two years can tumble down foam ramps, climb rope ladders above a foam pit, or wobble around in baby bouncers at Spennymoor Leisure Centre, County Durham.
The aim of the sessions, for children under two, is to help them develop coordination and strength, and develop mentally through games.
Linda Livsey, from South Durham Gymnastics, runs the Monday morning group.
She said yesterday that the children also benefited from the interaction with their parents or grandparents, who take them through the sessions.
Ms Livsey said: "There is no better start at this age than to teach them to be physically active. The children are having fun, and the parents are interacting with them and also having fun.
"I have three children of my own and, if you are at home, you have the housework to do and other distractions.
"But here is a different environment that is stimulating for children."
Similar groups for other age groups are also held at the centre, such as Tiny Tumblers for pre-school children.
