BBC Newcastle presenter Wendy Gibson has split from her broadcaster husband, Simon Willis.
The TV couple, who used to work together on the regional news programme Look North, said in a statement that "sadly our professional lives have taken us in different directions".
Ms Gibson, who is also a presenter, remains in Newcastle, where she reads the evening regional news bulletins, while her husband is pursuing his career in Scotland.
The couple married at St Andrew's Church, South Church, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, in November 1993. Ms Gibson's family came from the area, where her father was a tenant farmer at nearby Westerton.
The couple have said that there is no one else involved in the split.
"We are clearly very saddened at the break-up and just want to get on with our lives with some privacy," the statement added.
