CHILDREN at a Ferryhill primary school enjoyed an eggscellent last day of term.
Cleves Cross Primary School held an Easter egg decorating competition, organised by The Castles Residents' Association.
The group organised a similar contest last year, and it proved so popular they decided to repeat the event.
Headteacher John Hepplewhite said: "The residents group live in houses adjacent to the school and they take a keen interest in every facet of the community.
"Last year's competition was a great success, and it was again this year. About 120 pupils brought in eggs they made at home with their parents, and the whole community enjoyed participating in this social event."
There were prizes of large chocolate Easter eggs for the two best entries in each of the seven year groups, and all children who took part were given a gift.
