SELF-EMPLOYED gardener Ian Lauchlan, a new father of twins, died when he was involved in a head-on crash on a country lane near Scarborough, an inquest was told.
Now, North Yorkshire County Council has plans to spend £20,000 on safety measures in the busy "rat-run" road, including banning overtaking.
A verdict of accidental death was recorded on Mr Lauchlan 35, of Newlands Park Drive, Scarborough, who died following the accident in Seamer Moor Lane, Seamer, last October.
Deputy North Yorkshire East Coroner John Broadbridge was told that Mr Lauchlan had overtaken close to the brow of a hill at about 65 mph.
