WORK is taking place to ensure a visitor attraction reopens in time for the Easter holiday rush, after a pipe burst at the weekend.
Staff discovered what appeared to be flooding in part of the DLI Museum and Art Gallery on opening the Aykley Heads complex, in Durham, on Saturday.
On further inspection, the cause of the problem was put down to overnight leaking from a water pipe.
It led to the closure of the military museum to members of the public, while affected exhibits were dried out at the regimental museum.
A county council spokesman said the museum would remain closed today, but "every effort" would be made to ensure it opened again later in the week.
He said: "There has been a bit of flooding, and it's not possible to put big heaters in, but there's nothing that can't be put right by a bit of drying out.
"We're pulling out all the stops to have it open, if not by tomorrow, then certainly by the Easter weekend."
The new-look DLI Museum reopened last August after an 11-month, £900,000 refurbishment.
