THE Friends of Sedgefield's St Edmund's Church are raising money towards its upkeep with a sponsored tower abseil on June 9.
The church's tower is the highest in the county after Durham Cathedral.
The event is being organised by an Army team.
Linking up with the friends are supporters of Butterwick Hospice.
The money raised will be split between the two groups.
Numbers are strictly limited, and anyone wanting to take part must promise to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship.
For details and a registration pack, contact Brian Mutch on (01740) 621520.
Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
