ORGANISATIONS which help people transform their lives through learning have been praised for their work.
Following the launch of the national Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) programme, a host of North-East groups have earned the Guidance Council Quality Standard for Learning and Work.
IAG services are provided by career centres, volunteer bureaux, educational institutions and libraries.
More than 100 representatives from organisations across the region gathered at the Copthorne Hotel, Newcastle, for a celebration lunch.
Sue Reeve, IAG coordinator for Tyneside, said: "People who have been away from learning, or from work for whatever reason, need to be able to explore doubts and concerns which may be holding them back.
"Information, advice and guidance about learning opportunities and work is an essential step in helping people make changes to their lifestyle and find work."
