MUSEUM staff have been pulling out all the stops to re-open in time for the Easter weekend following a flood.
The DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery at Aykley Heads in Durham City was forced to close last weekend following an overnight leak from a faulty pipe.
The leak in the heating and ventilation system caused some flooding, but most of the items on display were unaffected.
Patrick Conway, Durham County Council's director of Arts, Libraries and Museums, said: "Thankfully, the majority of items on display escaped the water, and specialist conservators are already looking at those that have been affected.
"Staff have been unstinting in their commitment and effort over the weekend, and our aim is to have the DLI building open again in time for the Easter weekend."
The museum underwent a £900,000 refurbishment last year involving new displays of the treasures and traditions if the county's regiment.
