GREGGS the bakers have created ten jobs with the opening of a branch in Richmond.
The North Yorkshire shop is the most southerly shop for the Greggs of Gosforth division, which covers an area from Berwick across to Hexham in the west, a total of 108 shops.
Tracey Smith, 35, from Catterick Village, is the manager of the new shop. She joined Greggs last September and trained at the High Row shop in Darlington. She said: "I am having a great time here. It's very busy, but the customers think the shop is brilliant and they love the products."
Sales director Gillian Long added: "Initial sales from Richmond have exceeded the budget and we have had a very positive reaction from customers."
The shop is fitted out in the new Greggs design and is focused strongly on the takeaway side of the business.
"We will be open seven days a week after Easter, so that we can make the most of the tourist trade," said Mrs Long.
