A SEA cadets unit is hoping to rope in as many people as possible for its latest fundraising challenge.
The Chester-le-Street, County Durham, branch is joining cadets throughout the country in accepting a Guinness Book of Records challenge to tie as many knots as possible in the world's longest rope.
Using one metre lengths of rope, as many as 650 cadets are hoping to tie at least 30 kilometres in just five minutes.
The sponsored effort will help the unit, based at the Riverside, raise cash for new plastic dinghies.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the record bid or wanting information on the Chester-le-Street cadets can call Donald O'Clarke on 0191-416 8252 or 0191-388 4532
