SECOND division champions Ampleforth were full value for their 3-1 away win at first division Slingsby in the quarter-finals of the Ryedale Hospital Cup last Saturday.

They led 2-0 at half-time and nipped into a three-goal lead early in the second half with two goals by David Wallinger and one from Peter Banks.

Carl Biggins pulled one back for Slingsby five minutes from time. Man of the match winners were Glyn Brown for Slingsby and Ampleforth's Dominic Wall.

In the only other quarter-final tie played, Rosedale visited Aislaby United and also won 3-1, despite going a goal down when Simon King scored after good work by Colin Frank and Danny Lamb.

The visitors equalised after 30 minutes through Matthew Tyreman and eight minutes later John Tindall gave them the lead with an unstoppable shot.

Rosedale's man of the match Ben Tyreman scored the third goal two minutes from time. Martin Cook was the Aislaby man of the match.

Semi-final draw: Sinnington or Old Malton 3rds v Ampleforth, Kirkbymoorside Res or Union Rovers v Rosedale.

Black Swan, Pickering have retained their first division crown after two victories. On Saturday they beat Coxwold 13-1 with goals by man of the match Marc Dobson (5), Richard Holtby (3), Tom Bowley (2) and one each for Richard Robinson, Ben Richardson and Uyi Ehima. Jason Sargent scored for Coxwold.

Two days earlier, Black Swan beat Rosedale 5-1 with a goal each for Dobson, Robinson, Richardson, Holtby and Steven Sailes. Ian Ward replied for Rosedale with a last minute penalty.

Aislaby are currently second after beating Union Rovers 2-0, while Coxwold won their first league game of the season in midweek when they triumphed 4-3 at Kirkbymoorside Reserves.

Coxwold were always in front with Jamie Whittaker grabbing a hat-trick and Bobby Pearson also on target. The Moorsiders' marksmen were Nick Hodgson, Andrew Wilkinson and Nick Thurlow.

In the second division, Duncombe Park won 1-0 at Heslerton Reserves on Saturday thanks to a second-half goal scored by Phil Mason. Man of the match winners were Richard Webster (Heslerton) and Eddie Adamson (Duncombe Park).

Ryedale Sports Club Reserves beat Old Malton 3rds 3-1 in midweek to dent Old Malton's championship hopes. Old Malton also dropped vital points when they drew 1-1 with Westlers United.
