BECAUSE our nursery reflects Darlington's multicultural character, we value all experiences the children bring in.

We enjoy sharing a variety of celebrations, including Diwali, Chinese New Year and Harvest Festival.

The school has 130 children on roll attending on a part-time basic, with 65 morning places and 65 afternoon.

Children start our nursery on, or soon after, their third birthday. We take children from all over Darlington and the surrounding outskirts.

Although our nursery building is an old former primary school, we are very fortunate in having lots of space inside and a large wooded outdoor play area.

Because we are not limited by space, we have the luxury of offering a wide range of activities for the children to enjoy.

We offer high quality learning opportunities that will underpin the children's future learning.

Our curriculum is carefully planned, based on a continuity and progression detailed in the new foundation stage guidelines.

The curriculum we offer is always fun and enjoyable.

The most important factor is that the children feel secure, confident and happy, developing a sense of achievement through their learning.

We always aim to make nursery activities relevant to our children. During this term we have had visits from community workers, firefighters, police, a lollipop person, refuse collectors, nurse and postman, making our topic of People who Help Us particularly interesting and appropriate for young children.

The children have really enjoyed dressing up as firefighters, nurses, doctors, waitresses etc and imitating our visitors in role play.

Recently, the children have been talking about their mums and dads, discussing the things our parents and carers do to help us.

Links with Mother's Day were made with children painting and drawing pictures of their mums. The children produced some lovely compositions about their mums, which have been displayed in nursery and some of the things the children said are sure to bring a smile to mums' faces.

Although nursery can be a noisy, busy place, we always have quiet times where we share stories in small groups and enjoy talking, singing and games together.
