Billingham Wolves picked up silverware at the weekend returning from Kirkcaldy with the Hockey UK 2001 U-18 tournament title.
They defeated Sheffield Steelhawks 5-1 in the final. Wolves were worthy winners of the annual tournament and brushed aside a Sheffield outfit content to mar the game with physical tactics late in the match. Stephen Wallace was involved in all of Wolves' goals, scoring four and collecting an assist on the other. Tom Griffiths was responsible for the remaining Wolves' goal.
Sunderland Tomahawks provided Wolves with their first opponents and the Teessiders were 3-0 victors, Griffiths, Wallace and Scott Ward on target for Wolves. Hosts Kirkcaldy Falcons were next and lost 2-0, Griffiths and Wallace the scorers. Sheffield came and went as they felt the Wolves' full force 4-1. Andrew Thornton, Ward and Wallace (2) got the goals. Inverness also could not stop Wallace and Griffiths finding the net in a 2-0 win. Billingham topped the group which gave them a semi-final match against fourth-placed Sunderland. Anthony Amos was the lone marksman in a 1-0 win. Sheffield had a 2-0 victory over Kirkcaldy in their semi-final match
Wallace was Wolves' man of the match in the final and also received two other awards. He was the tournament's stop scorer and the most valuable player award winners.

Billingham and Sheffield meet twice this weekend in the English Under-19 Northern championship play-offs. They meet at the Forum ice arena, Billingham, tomorrow (face-off 7pm) and the return is at Queens Road, Sheffield, on Sunday (face-off 5.30 pm).
Whitley Bay Arrows completed their English Bantam (Under-12) North B league with a 5-3 victory over Birmingham Rockets at Hillheads. It gives them the title by three points. Jamie Tinsley gave Arrows the lead at 02.49 and by the interval Shaun Lee and Daniel Murdy made it 3-0. Tinsley added a fourth before Rockets' first reply at 25.21 on the powerplay. Laura Mole tucked away the fifth at 28.11. Birmingham struck two further goals to complete the scoring.

Billingham Pumas were beaten 4-1 by Peterborough Beavers in an Under-12 challenge match at the Forum ice arena. Trailing 2-0, Ben Moore struck Pumas' only goal.

Billingham Falcons twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Northern Conference Under-11 squad. Michael Farn scored at 14.18 and 21.31 for an Under-13 Falcons side.
