West Auckland 0, Marske United 2.
Marske United powered their way into the Albany Northern League Cup final with a 2-0 win at West Auckland.
The game took a while to get going with both sides taking few chances in defence, which resulted in a long ball game.
West had a half chance, but Milroy shot straight at United keeper John Mohan.
Darren Sankey went close with a header and Dave Markham with a long shot, as Marske took control. After 23 minutes the Seasiders took the lead when a long clearance saw Sankey race through to lift the ball over the home keeper and into the net.
United strove hard for a second and it came in first half stoppage time when Markham swung in a corner for Benn Thompson to head home.
Marske pushed forward in the second period and could have finished the contest with a couple of good chances.
With Auckland's forwards well in check Marske in the end were comfortable winners. They now meet Bedlington Terriers in the final at New Ferens Park, Durham, on Thursday, May 17, kick off 7pm.
Team: Mohan, Murphy, Middleton, Taylor, Robson, Hodgson, James, Kasonali, Sankey, Thompson, Markham. Subs Kinnair (68), Reeve (84), Woods, Knight, Moor.
On Saturday United entertain Bedlington at Mount Pleasant, kick off 3pm. They are also at home on Easter Monday when they kick off against Guisborough at 11am.
