A SHOW tracing black dance from its roots in Africa will take to the stage this weekend.
The Custom Made Dance Company will present the premiere of Sign of the Times at the Customs House, South Shields, at 8pm on Sunday.
Jazz, hip hop and contemporary dance merge in this piece by choreographers Jay Pickens and Donald Edwards.
Set against a backdrop of exciting rhythms, Sign of the Times reflects the development of music and dance as a means of communication within black culture, as well as tracing its international influence.
The project includes educational workshops in South Tyneside, which will explore themes and ideas within the show.
Masterclasses will also be held at the Customs House, on Monday, April 23. Tickets for the premiere are £5.
