A NUMBER of events are planned in the Wear Valley area for the Easter weekend.
A children's play, The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, is held at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, on Saturday, 3pm. Admission £5/£3.
Also on Saturday, an egg show will take place at Howden-Le-Wear's Australian pub, eggs benched between 1 and 3pm. A jarping contest starts at 2.30pm on Easter Monday.
Crook Cricket Club will host a family disco from 7.30-10.30pm.
Whitworth Hall Country Park in Spennymoor is holding events for the family. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 2pm-5pm, there will be a bouncy castle, velcro olympics and childrens rides.
On Sunday, there will be a three-mile family fun run from Spennymoor Leisure Centre, at 10.30am. Those taking part should wear fancy dress and sensible footwear. Register by Thu-rsday at 4.30pm
On Easter Monday there will be a car boot sale for the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland, Pollards Inn car park, Etherley Lane, 10.30am-3pm.
