A £1m flood defence plan goes on show at Stamford Bridge, near York, one of the worst hit places in the recent floods when the River Derwent burst its banks.
Residents will be able to see the Environment Agency scheme at the village hall on Thursday, and follows a campaign they mounted for early action after Stamford Bridge was hit twice by severe floods in less than two years.
Project manager Tom Fewster said he expected the scheme to be submitted for planning approval by the end of the month. Work should begin at the end of the year and completed by the following winter.
"We are keen that residents visit the display to give us the chance to explain it," he said.
The defence scheme is part of a ten-year plan to improve flood defences across Yorkshire which has been backed by the Yorkshire Regional Flood Defence Committee.
