HUNDREDS of people packed into Durham Cathedral yesterday for an Easter service, pictured.
The traditional sermon was delivered by the Bishop of Durham, the Right Reverend Michael Turnbull. Meanwhile, his colleague, the Archbishop of York, offered a message of hope in his Easter Day sermon, despite the recent flooding and foot-and-mouth crises suffered by his flock. Speaking in York Minster, the Right Reverend Dr David Hope said Christ's resurrection gave him confidence for the future. Recent national and regional disasters were a reminder of humanity's "fragility, frailty and finiteness", he said. The Archbishop encouraged people to look to the future and put their lives into a wider perspective.
