A FAMILY of seven sisters are to be remembered at their favourite childhood haunt.
Beth, Isabella, Maud, Susan, Ellen, Molly and Francis Law lived in Spennymoor at the beginning of the last century, in the now demolished Park Terrace.
They lived next to Jubilee Park, and spent many happy hours there as children.
Last year the youngest sister, Francis, died aged 77, and her daughter, Gillian Wales, is to put a bench in the park in memory of all the sisters, some of whom are still alive.
It will go next to an existing one in memory of Isabella, put in the park two years ago.
Gillian said: "They used to play in the park when they were little. There was about seven sisters, but I would have to sit down and work out exactly how many there were, because a couple didn't survive infancy.
"Most of them moved away eventually, apart from Isabella, but they used to come back to Spennymoor and make a pilgrimage to the park.
"There are lots of happy memories there."
