Newcastle picked up only their third win of the year with a deserved victory over Harry Redknapp's West Ham.

Carl Cort volleyed home his fifth in nine games for the Magpies from Nolberto Solano's cross just after the hour and Solano converted a penalty after 56 minutes when his cross was handled by Nigel Winterburn.
The only black mark on an otherwise successful day was that they failed to keep a clean sheet when Andy O'Brien brought down Rigobert Song in the box and Frank Lampard converted a consolation penalty after 80 minutes.
