HARTLEPOOL United striker Anth Lormor vowed his side will bounce back from Saturday's defeat against Hull when they take on Leyton Orient this afternoon.
Pool make the Easter Monday trip to London to face a team level on points, with a superior goal difference giving Chris Turner's side the edge.
After going 21 games without defeat, Pool have now suffered back-to-back defeats against Southend and Hull - but Lormor insists Pool will show their true mettle at Brisbane Road.
"The manager and Colin West have stressed how important this game is,'' said Lormor. "It's vital that we get something out of it. We never got going on Saturday, Hull are on a good run, but we have suffered a little dip.
"It is a big test of character for us now. We have four games left and we don't want to let anyone down - as a team, a squad and as a club. We are in a magnificent position and we cannot let it slip.''
Lormor suffered in front of goal on Saturday as chances were few and far between against a well organised Hull defence.
"Both teams had few chances and it could have gone either way, but we need to lift things for Monday. They came to stop us and a couple of months ago that was exactly what we were doing to other teams. We were all disappointed that the run came to an end and now we have lost two on the trot we need three points on Monday.
"Their goal came from a long ball and they played like that to try and get behind our defence and look for a mistake.
"It was frustrating for us. It was a below-par performance and the result makes the Orient game a huge one, but we won't be going around feeling sorry about it. When Monday comes we will be bang on and look for three points. There's no point in going and looking for a draw. We are at the stage of the season where we need three."
Pool will be without defender James Sharp this afternoon as the defender needed 13 stitches in a cut around his left eye on Saturday. Turner is likely to resist the temptation to hand Graeme Lee his first start of the season after he made his return on Saturday after cruciate knee ligament surgery.
Millwall have been linked with a summer swoop for Tommy Miller. The second division leaders are managed by Mark McGhee - a close friend of Pool boss Chris Turner who was coach at Pool early last season.
