AN Army officer is putting his physical training to the test by tackling the London Marathon.
Ron Baynes, who is based at Catterick Garrison, is taking part in the race on Sunday in aid of the Royal British Legion.
Mr Baynes, who is also leaving the Army at the end of April after 23 years' service, said: "I've run every day for more than 30 years, but this is only my second marathon.
"My daughters, Nicole and Rachael, are very proud of me, but my wife thinks I am mad. I belong to the legion so I hope to raise at least £1,000 to help the it continue helping ex-service people and their families."
