A DOZEN young people received certificates yesterday at the end of a community sports leadership course.
Darlington leisure services and community education has been running the course as part of efforts to promote leadership and organisational skills.
The Community Sports Leadership Awards have been using sport as a vehicle to do this over 15 weeks.
The students, aged from 16 to 24, put in 30 hours at the town's Eastbourne Sports Complex, and completed ten hours of voluntary leadership service.
They were presented with their certificates by the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Dot Long.
The ten-hour placements were spent working with young people at the Friday Night Club at the complex, supporting and leading various sporting activities.
