POLICE are stepping up the hunt for a gunman who shot a Tyneside man at the weekend.
The 33-year-old man was shot in Nevison Avenue, South Shields, just before 9.30pm on Saturday.
Detective Chief Inspector Frank Whittle, of Tyneside police, said: "Fortunately, the man is making a recovery but we are treating this incident very seriously."
He appealed for anyone with information on the shooting to contact South Tyneside police on 0191-454 7555
