A YOUNGSTER is celebrating success in a national gymnastics contest.
Following a gold medal win for tumbling at the National Development Plan regional championships at South Tyneside, Fay Kirkbride, a pupil at Acklam Grange School, Middlesbrough, represented the region in the national finals at Stoke, and finished fourth.
At the South Tyneside championships, her clubmate Jade Jackson, 12, won a bronze medal for tumbling. Fay, is a member of Acklam Gymnastics Club, in Middlesbrough. Coach Anita Walters said the club had become so successful, the girls won medals at nearly every event.
They won five medals at the most recent floor and vault regional championships.
