A HUNT'S supporters have come up with a novel way to try to soften the blow of severe financial problems caused by the foot-and-mouth outbreak.
With no hunting possible since the first cases of the disease were reported, members of the Hurworth Hunt Supporters Club have decided that providing the next best thing might raise spirits and funds.
They have organised a big screen hunting night at the Duke of Wellington in Welbury on Monday, April 30 when car followers and riders will have the chance to watch hunting videos belonging to the hunt's chairman, Don Kendrew.
The evening is being sponsored by Maxwells electrical shop and committee member Janet Lloyd said: "We must try to do something to help because funds are in a desperate state."
The idea is something which has never been tried before and all are welcome, including members and supporters of other hunts.
The fun starts at 8pm and there will be a paper cap at the door. A light supper is included in the entrance fee.
