Miserable weather continues to dog the Seniors Friday morning golf, in fact, most of the seniors preferred to stay in bed rather than muster on the first tee at 8am. However, for 18 hardy golfers who turned up a Stable competition was played.
Leading scores: 36 points Noel Winstanley (14); 35 Brian Rothery (24); 34 Alf Cooper (16).
Brooch competition
Played 9 on a wet, snowy and windy day, some ladies failed to finish the course although Angela Clinkard, playing off 18 handicap, returned the best score of 73. The competition is played in aid of Save The Children Fund.
Mail on Sunday
A very close match at Bedale against the ladies from Middlesbrough Brass Castle went to the 19th hole before Bedale conceded defeat.
Lady Past Captains
This competition play 18-holes to decide who would represent the club when the match against the Harrogate Society of Golf Captains is played at Otley golf club on June 7. After nine holes the lady captain Marion Willis decided that the weather had deteriorated so much that the competition should be based over the first nine holes, with the result that Yvonne Burnham, with a score of 16 points playing off a 15 handicap, will represent Bedale in the aforementioned match. In second place came Sue Mayman (16) and Marion Willis (22) came third.
