Elswick Harriers
The club's Good Friday road race took place in Nethenby Drive, Fenham, with nearly 400 competitors taking part in the seven-race programme.
Elswick ladies took the honours with first team prize in the senior women's race. Sophie Milburn was third in 13.02 over the tough 2.2-mile course. Judith Nutt was fourth in 13.07 with Kim Davison third lady vet in 13.38. The U15 girls also took first spot through individual winner Sam Crowe in 7.34 over the 1.25-mile Stockton course. Ashley Gleason was third in 7.54 with Beth Pearson 17th in 9.01.
In the U13 girls Vicki Beck was ninth in 8.16 with Sarah Dodd 32nd in 9.48. In the U13 boys relay Lewis Dixon was sixth on the first leg in 7.33 with Jonathan Callero coming home 10th in 8.52. Jonathan Pearson then ran the final leg in 7.52 to take eighth place.
Stephen Hoggins was 20th in the U15 boys I 13.14 over the 2.2-mile course with Ian Fenwick 37th in 16.01.
Elswick's U17 men took third team prize with Ryan McLeod fifth in 11.15, Philip Hoggins 14th in 12.33 and Paul Dodd 16th in 12.47.
In the senior men's 4x2.2-mile relay Martin Connery ran 11.44 in leg one with David Anderson posting the third fastest time of the day in 10.23. Ray Smee ran 12.12 on leg three and John Baker brought the team home in 12.13 to finish in ninth position. Peter Bannister ran a solo leg to record 13.26 in the vets relay, the club took fourth place.
Steve White, 12.27, Mark McNally 12.05, Tony Hall 12.16 and Jimmy Bew 11.33, Mick Donnelly ran a solo leg in 12.27.

New Marske Harriers
THE first road race in the six-event series organised by New Marske Harriers, took place on a sunny day on Good Friday.
From the gun, Barry Stephenson of Quakers hit the front, never to be headed in a time of 31.54. Stuart Dickinson and Ian Cook had a rare battle for second place with Dickinson forging ahead in the last 200m to gain second in 32.35. Ian Cook (Hartlepool Burn Road) finished third and first veteran in 32.44. In fourth place was David Wyatt (Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade) 33.05, fifth was Mark Armstrong (Hartlepool Burn Road) 33.12 and sixth and second veteran was Tony Livingston of New Marske in 33.20.
