A TEENAGER'S acting talents have given him a chance at stardom with the offer of a film.
Danny Wales, of King James Community College, Bishop Auckland, is following in the footsteps of film actor Hugh Grant, by starring in a university-made film.
Sunderland University was so impressed by the 15-year-old that it has asked him to appear in one of its films.
Years ago, Grant was spotted in a university film which sent him on his way to Hollywood.
Danny hopes that his role will also help him on the road to fame after just missing out on the role of box office hit Billy Elliott last year.
He said: "I had to go to Newcastle and got down to the last 30. I have also done adverts and been in Close and True, which stars Robson Green.''
Danny has already appeared in a film by Sunderland University about bullying.
Filming starts soon on his next project, in which he plays a young boy in conflict with his father.
He also treads the boards as a regular contributor to King James' youth theatre company - Bishop Auckland Theatre Hooligans.
Drama teacher Stephen Elliott said: "Danny is a quiet person who is quite happy to blend in, but he really comes alive on stage."
"I am very proud of what he has achieved.''
