After inflicting the first defeat on Crook Olde Horse Shoe the previous week, Bishop Auckland King's Head failed to maintain their form when they visited Henknowle Manor House and went down by three points to a team which really lifted their standard.
Manor House had two singles points from Peter Mernor and Ronnie Wright, while Bob Chambers and John Tomlinson added one each. In reply, King's had two points from Chris Priestley and one each by Kevin Watson and David Jacomb. The King's took the doubles point through John Searle and David Jacomb, but the Manor House completed a great night when Peter Mernor beat Kevin Watson 2-0 in the captain's game.
Crook Olde Horse Shoe lead the table by six points from Spennymoor Ashtree, who are eight points ahead of Bishop Auckland King's Head.

Durham Ranking Tournament
David Harrop of Consett won the fourth ranking event at Durham Snooker Club and sponsored by Cue Craft, with the extremely good record of only dropping two frames all day.
In the Final, Harrop beat Andy Seal of Sherburn Hill 4-0 to take the £80 prize money with Seal receiving £40. In the semi-finals Harrop had beaten Michael Rhodes of Durham 4-2 (the only two frames dropped all day), while Seal beat Gee Cheng of Durham 4-0. The beaten semi-finalists both received £20.
Chris Bowran of Bishop Auckland won the Plate, for players beaten in the first round, when he beat Jason Johnson of Consett 2-1 to take the £10 prize.
The unluckiest player over the four tournaments has been David Lowery of Bowburn for each time he has been drawn against Andy Seal in the first round. However, this time he came very close to beating Seal when he only went down by the odd frame in five.
The Easter Sunday turnout was slightly down on the previous events so Snooker Club owner, Eddie Rhodes and his wife, Alice entered to make a straight first round draw. Remarkably they were drawn together and Eddie was brave enough to win 3-1 but then fell by the same score to Seal in the second round. The only other lady entrant in this event was Helen Littlewood and she went out in the second round.
The next Ranking Event will be held on Sunday, May 20 when players must register by noon.
