Middlesbrough bounced back from their Bank Holiday defeat at the hands of Ipswich to make it two out of two on their travels.
An early header from Hamilton Ricard, who latched on to a Dean Gordon cross put Boro on their way against Peter Taylor's men.
The home side piled on the pressure and Terry Venables must have been relieved to see his team go in 1-0 up at the interval.
The game was effectively over after just eight minutes of the second half.
Firstly, a sublime piece of skill from Croatian hitman Alen Boksic saw the striker chip in from 25 yards.
On 53 minutes Leicester failed to clear a corner and Paul Ince hammered the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the box to send the vocal travelling fans delirious.
