Hull City boss Brian Little made a winning return to the North-East after seeing his side overcome Darlington at Feethams.
The former Quakers supremo, who left the club for Leicester ten years ago, has performed miracles at Boothferry Park this season, transforming the cash-strapped club from relegation candidates to promotion contenders and today's 2-0 victory is furher proof of a remarkable season for the Humberside club.
Pure grit and determination has dragged Darlington out of the relegation mire but on this showing they could quite easily find themsleves back amongst the scrap after this lacklustre performance.
The visitors found themselves 1-0 up after just seven minutes.
Mark Kilty clattered into giant Kevin Francis and the resulting free-kick eventually fell to skipper Craig Liddle, whose sliced clearance rebounded off the unfortunate Alex Jeannin into the net.
There was an element of fortune in City's second too.
With half-time approaching, the Tigers doubled their lead through John Eyre, who capitalised on a defensive error to lob Andy Collett from outside the area.
Despite having most of the play in the second half, Darlington failed to breakdown a resolute Hull defence, marshalled superbly by Michael Edwards and Ian Goodison.
