A DEADLINE for residents to express their views on how they should be governed has been extended.
Due to difficulties with the distribution of leaflets, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has postponed a deadline for people to decide on three options for its future, to Wednesday.
The leaflet asks people to decide between having an elected mayor with a cabinet, a mayor and a council manager, and a council leader and a cabinet.
Councillor Dave McLuckie, chairman of the council's political structures working party, said: "We think it's vital that the local community has an input because we need to know which option they think will best suit the needs of our area.
"That's why we decided to send a leaflet to households. In such a widely spread area, distribution is quite a challenge, and there have been some difficulties which we hope have now been ironed out."
People can send their questionnaires to the Town Hall or hand them it at libraries.
