GARDENING guru Simon Cross helped North-East students reopen their plant centre for the summer.
The star of Tyne Tees' The Real DIY Show gave his support to the business, run by Durham college students.
Gardening enthusiasts can buy shrubs, summer bedding plants and herbaceous perennials grown by horticultural students at Finchale Training College for the Disabled, on the outskirts of the city.
The venture also involves students who are studying on retail courses.
Mr Cross said: "The college trainees have many skills and a great deal of knowledge to offer employers, and I am pleased to support Finchale.''
College spokeswoman Rachel Chetwyn said: "Many previous customers have been asking when the centre will re-open.
"Last year, the centre was more popular than ever, and stocks ran out before our summer fair.''
It is open from 10am to 4pm, except on Fridays, when it is closed.
