CELEBRATIONS in a North Yorkshire are to go ahead, despite the crisis.
There had been fears the May Fair, in Northallerton, would have to be called off.
However, a spokesman for the Showman's Guild insisted yesterday that the fair would be going ahead, from May 3 to 7.
Secretary Alan Cowie said: "There will be some spectacular rides there."
The Egton Bridge Gooseberry Show, in North Yorkshire, is also to go ahead.
The competition to find the region's biggest gooseberry will take place on Tuesday, August 7.
However, organisers have stressed that if the country is still in the grips of the crisis, there will be no car parking, because a farmer usually moves his stock out of a nearby field to allow visitors to park there.
