A FUNDRAISING drive to send a group of physically disabled people on a summer break has been a success.
Members of Bishop Auckland Friendship and Activity Club had such a good time in Blackpool last year that they want to go back.
All are aged between 19 and 50 and have a wide range of disabilities, including cerebral palsy and spina bifida. They need an army of carers and equipment, which brings the total cost of the trip to more than £3,000.
Sue Stevens, a care manager at Durham County Council's social services, helped with the fundraising. Prizes collected for a raffle included a Sunderland AFC shirt given by the premier club's disabled and escort branch.
