A STOCKTON student has been awarded a silver medal in a national competition.
Jenny Nicholas, a biology student at Stockton Sixth Form College, took part in the International Biology Olympiad, set by the Institute of Biology, and sat a two-hour theory test.
The 18-year-old who is studying A-level biology, maths and chemistry, and hopes to read natural sciences at the University of Durham, said she was delighted with the silver medal.
She said: "The test was very challenging and enjoyable. Biology is my favourite subject and all aspects were covered, so it is very gratifying to know I have come through it all to gain a medal."
Joyce Clark, head of biology at the college said: "Jenny is an outstanding student and is totally committed to her work. We are delighted and proud she has done so well."
