Mandale Harriers
ABibby (Mandale Harriers) was the star of the Cyril Elliott open meeting at Clareville Stadium, Middlesbrough. Fresh from his triumphs with the English Schools rugby team he bounded out to 13.05m in the U-17 triple jump and then roared down the track in the 100m hurdles closely followed by teammate Suote Nyananyu for another sub-14 record time looking to follow Nigel Walker as an athletic rugby international.
Peter Vickers, the English Schools 100m bronze medallist opened his first season in the junior age group with a sprint double.
Chris Jones (Mandale) was another double winner claiming both U-15 400m and 800m events and in the youngest age group Richard Kilty claimed the honour in both sprints.
In the field events, Chris Walsh (SB), Steve Gate (Border) and Andrew Smith (M and C) won their hammer competitions with throws of over 50m.
Anna Kirby (Mandale) turned in an impressive display of front running to win the U-15 800m in outstanding 2:20.98.

Crook and District AC
Five members took part in the London Marathon and all survived to tell their tales.
Martin Lowrie was first back in 3:17mins, followed by Gerry Hehir 3:23.25, while Dennis Brown and Neale Brown recorded 3:29.21 after an absence of nine years of marathon running. Julia Steele, despite being hampered by the congested start, produced an excellent 3:57.00.
