THE FATHER of a girl with a rare condition is gearing up for a fun day to help raise cash for the hospital unit that treats her.
Maddison Walton has suffered from apnea - failing to breathe properly while asleep - since she was born last November.
Following months of treatment and care at Dryburn Hospital, Durham, dad David Walton decided to repay their devotion.
This Friday David, from Wynyard, Chester-le-Street, will turn his workplace into a fundraising fun house.
Shoppers at Alldays convenience store in Consett will see David get a sponsored head shave before he gives out prizes including a football signed by Newcastle United players and toys donated by Mattel.
Other prizes up for grabs include a set of Eastenders photographs and tickets to Warner Brothers cinemas.
The fundraising effort is expected to last all day.
