Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League
Consett had the edge on Newcastle East End winning a close-fought match by the odd goal in three. Andrew Pool and Chris Elliott scored for the Steelmen while Steve Lovelle's goal kept East End in with a chance until the final whistle.
Walker Central also won by a narrow margin, entertaining Redheugh. A brace by Michael Dixon and one from Dean Gates earned them the points in a 3-2 victory with Carl Walker and Jason Singh on the mark for the Reds.
Alex Meadow scored twice and other goals followed from Stephen Vickers and Paul Lennon when Dunston Fed visited Percy Main and won 4-2. Gareth Pugh and Dominic Elliott were the main marksmen.
In midweek, Redheugh easily accounted for West Denton when Jason Singh, Liam Bowen and Michael Hay all struck in a 3-0 result.
Walker Central saw off the challenge of Dunston Fed 2-0 thanks to Robert Skillicorn and Michael Dixon.
Hetton Youth League
Herrington enjoyed a couple of splendid days when they not only clinched the championship, but won the Sunderland Eye Infirmary Cup.
And in both matches they defeated Springwell 4-0, first in the league and then in the cup when Chris Ndubuka (2), Phil Makle and Gavin Cogden found the net.
Dunlop will play Witton Gilbert in the final of the Horner Cup. Despite a spirited performance by bottom of the table Springboard, Dunlop, who led 2-0 at one stage, just edged the semi-final tie 3-2.
Michael Shovlin reduced Springboard's arrears and when Stephen Davis equalised, it was all to play for. Dunlop reached the final with a winning third goal four minutes from time. John Anderson gave an outstanding performance in goal for Springboard.
The result of the other semi final tie was more clear-cut. Lumley, who have enjoyed a reasonably successful season, put up a poor performance against Witton Gilbert who ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. Jeff Hepple bagged a brace of goals and when Liam Parsons and Graham Kine also
found the net, there was no way back for Lumley.
New County North Durham Youth League
CONSETT lifted the Edward Wanless Cup but they were pressed all the way before defeating Hebburn Clegwell 2-1 with goals by David Hogg and Daniel Craggs.
Stephen George was the Hebburn marksman but despite mounting a series of attacks, Hebburn failed to find an equaliser and it was Consett who celebrated.
In midweek, Consett defeated Felling with an only goal by Dean Lister when the sides met in the Durham County Youth Cup while Chester-le-Street lifted the Under-17 League Cup when they defeated South Shields 1-0 after extra time. Craig Patterson scored the vital goal.
In the Under-16 division, Wardley won 5-2 at Blackfyne to become champions.
Shaun Chilton and Chris Tinkler were the home side's scorers but Wardley were rarely troubled and won with strikes by David Lucas (2), Graham Ash, Craig Waters and Darren Smith.
At Under-17 level, Harton and Westoe saw off the challenge of Blackfyne 4-0 with goals from Craig Bell (2), Johnny Wightman and Michael Ord while Dunston Federation were successful at Sandhole thanks to an only goal by Paul Leonard and South Tyneside defeated Chester-le-Street 2-0.
In a midweek fixture Blackfyne and Sandhole shared eight goals. Carl Muirhead (2), James Parkin and Dean Leathley were on the mark for Blackfyne with Shaun Pearson (2), Paul Crowe and Michael Bell responding for Sandhole.
A and C Kelly Gateshead Youth League
LEAM Rangers maintained their remarkable record in the Under-15 division, recording their 23rd successive victory when they visited Blaydon. A couple of goals by Anthony Thompson featured in a 6-0 victory which enhanced Rangers' chances of clinching the title.
Cleveland Hall are second, nine points behind the leaders with two games in hand. They too won by a 6-0 margin at Dawdon where both Dean Bramwell and Anthony Jeffries bagged a brace of goals.
Redheugh also scored six goals at Wardley who replied twice through Ian Chippingdale. Andrew Curry, though, was the star of the show as he rifled four goals.
In the Under-14 section Blaydon still lead despite being held to a 2-2 draw by nearest rivals Redheugh. Four points separate the pair but the Reds have five matches in hand.
Winlaton were the biggest scorers of the day as they put nine goals past
Sandhole who managed just one. David McNestry (3), Craig Boyd (2) and David Johnson (2) provided most of the goals.
In the Under-13 division, a brace of goals by Lee Farmer assisted Ryton in their 5-2 success at Blackfyne and both Liam Bell and Lee Morton scored twice when Blaydon saw off the challenge of Redheugh by a 5-1 scoreline.
A hat-trick by Andrew Smith was the feature of Chopwell's 4-0 defeat of Consett at Under-12 level and Felling hit Winlaton 8-0 as the goals were credited to Anthony Ross (4), Liam Henderson (2) and Craig Rankin.
Blackfyne won the Under-11 League Cup when Ben Pearson twice found the net in a 3-2 victory over Leam Rangers A in the final while in the League Low Fell A romped to an 8-3 win at Chopwell when the majority of the goals were credited to Adam Hewitt (3), Jack Fannon (2) and Joseph Anderson (2).
Northallerton Juniors
Benn Barr, Northallerton's man of the match, continued his good form of recent weeks by supplying the vital pass for Carl Foster to tap home from five yards which gave the Under-16s a 1-0 home win over ten-man Thirsk Falcons.
Thirsk rarely threatened as Northallerton restricted their chances and the few efforts they had on target were dealt with competently by goalkeeper Anthony Whyley.
The Under-12s had a 5-1 win over Barnard Castle. After five minutes, and against the run of play, the visitors took a surprise lead. Northallerton hit back with a spectacular overhead volley from Daniel Baxter.
Northallerton increased their lead with two well-worked goals from James Bell. In the second-half Northallerton continued in the same vein and they increased their lead through man of the match Ricky Hopwood and Daniel Baxter.
Willington
David Jackson and Martin Hopps both scored hat-tricks for Willington Under-14s in their 7-1 victory at home to Horden in the Russell Foster Premier Division. Daniel Lee got the other goal for Willington, whose man of the match was Andrew Johnston.
The Under-15s defeated visitors Birtley St Josephs 6-1 to stay on course for a high position in their Premier Division. Terry Garside (2), Sam Smallman, Craig Armin, Michael Hogarth and Neil Clark scored in a one-sided game.
The Under-13s lost 4-2 at home to Ayton in the last 16 of the Ray Foster Cup. Man of the match Warren Robinson and Lee Tinkler scoring. The Under-13s then beat visitors SAFC 14/7 2-0 in the league. Michael Walsh scoring in the latter game.
Willington Under-10s drew 0-0 with City of Durham Wasps and then lost 3-0 to Washington Envelopes. Matthew Mounter was man of the match in the first game, Evan Graham in the second.
Northallerton Corinthians
The treble is in sight for the Under-11 team, sponsored by Hungry Jacks. They have made sure of the Richmond and District title, having already lifted the Peter Cole Cup. Now they have one target remaining - the final of the George Fawcett Cup next month.
Corinthians defeated Darlington Allstars 3-0 away, scoring all the goals in the first-half through Daniel Wright, Daniel Fox and Jamie Stokes. The man of the match award was shared by Lewis Harrison and captain Graeme Noonan.
