A NORTH Yorkshire village's plans for a new sports pavilion could be in jeopardy, unless it can reach a compromise over access to the site.
The project, spearheaded by Barton Playing Field Ltd, seemed all set to win planning approval in February.
That was before the county highways authority intervened with concerns over visibility for drivers entering or leaving the venue.
Officials are also worried that there will not be enough space for coaches in the car park.
However, Barton Playing Field Ltd says providing a different access point would prove a headache as it would mean repositioning the car park and the pavilion, which would interfere with sight lines on the cricket pitch.
A practice wicket and plans for a football pitch could also be compromised by what would amount to a radical overhaul of the layout of the site, says the organisation.
However, if there is no change, highways officials are recommending that the project is refused.
On Tuesday, Richmondshire District Council's planning committee will be asked to agree to a make a visit to the site before taking a vote on the project.
