Hundreds of homes across Middlesbrough are composting waste. More than 750 compost bins were distributed free of charge to homes in the past 18 months, and demand is increasing.
The green issues group Middlesbrough Environment City is organising a roadshow and will give 500 compost bins away.
It is National Composting Awareness Week next week, and Simon Cross, of Middlesbrough's Nature's World and star of the TV series The Real DIY Show, will be leading workshops on how to compost.
Paul Taylor, of Middlesbrough Environment City, said: "This scheme has been incredibly successful over the past few years and Environment City has worked hard at raising awareness of how people can really make a difference in reducing the amount of waste they throw away."
The roadshow will visit Coulby Newham, Hemlington, Nunthorpe and Grove Hill, Middlesbrough in May, June , July and August.
