OLD acquaintances were renewed at the 50th anniversary celebrations of a Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
Ferryhill Station Primary School PTA was formed in 1951 and is still thriving 50 years on. To commemorate the occasion, past and present members were invited to a social evening featuring a performance by former pupil Angie Reach a professional singer.
Headteacher Val Jago said: "We may well be one of the oldest, because PTAs did not really start until the 1950s. Over the years we have had support of not just parents, but neighbours. There is a good community spirit in Ferryhill Station and although there are lots of problems in the area, the support of our friends and neighbours has been excellent.
