A GROUP of nursery children have taken part in a community project to send aid to families in Romania.
The youngsters and their families from Just Learning in Ingleby Barwick have collected towels, tinned food and toys for a charity supported by various groups in the Thornaby area.
Almost £600 has been raised to cover the transportation costs for the gifts.
The appeal was coordinated by Howard and Denise Robinson who were joined by Ian and Sue Paxton from the Jesus and Relief Supplies charity to make the donation possible.
The charity makes regular trips to Romania and Mrs Robinson, who works at St Patrick's Primary School in Thornaby, has involved both the school and Just Learning in the community effort.
A spokeswoman for Just Learning said: "The children and their families have really got behind this project and their enthusiasm in collecting goods to send to Romania has been wonderful.
