AN exhibition by a North-East artist is about to begin a national tour.
Durham City painter Bob Barron spent a year collecting handprints from people born in each year of the last century for his work, Witnesses.
Everyone who gave their handprint took part in, or witnessed, the momentous events which shaped the last century.
The first print belongs to a woman born on January 1, 1900, and the last is that of a baby born on New Year's Eve 1999.
Others include a First World War veteran and a Polish Jew who survived the Nazi death camps during the Second World War.
The prints are individually framed and are displayed with text describing the events.
The work went on show in Durham Cathedral last year and was so popular it is now touring cathedrals across the country.
It will be on show at Ely Cathedral, from May 2 to May 30, and will then be visiting Birmingham, Salisbury, Worcester and Lincoln.
