SOCCER ace Kieron Dyer has had another brush with traffic police after he crashed his Mercedes into the back of a car, leaving its driver injured.

The prang came only two weeks after the £20m-rated star was stopped by police for allegedly doing more than 100mph, although there is no suggestion speed played any part in Thursday's crash.

Dyer was on his way to Newcastle United's training ground in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, when the accident happened on a sliproad from the A1M.

His £50,000 silver S320 Mercedes automatic sports car hit the back of a white Vauxhall Cavalier as both cars left the motorway.

It is understood Dyer telephoned the emergency services from a mobile phone.

The 22-year-old midfielder was uninjured, but the 56-year-old Cavalier driver, described by police as a local man, was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Both drivers were breath-tested but results were negative and police said no further action would be taken.

One witness said: "As I passed, Dyer had got out of the car and was waiting for the police. The police arrived and he got into their car to explain what had happened. He looked really shaken and upset."

A spokesman for Durham Police said: "Both cars were travelling in the same direction when it happened and were moving slowly".

Dyer is waiting to see whether he will be summonsed to appear in court on a speeding charge.

He was stopped by police on the A1M.
