THE Chester-le-Street branch of the charity Age Concern is holding Will Advice Days to help pensioners make provision for their loved ones.

Staff have set up two advice days where people can be taken through the procedure.

Emma Howitt, Age Concern's information officer, said: "Every month we get many inquiries from older people about making a will. Although most people know in the back of their minds that they should have one, they still put it off.

"They are often genuinely worried about tempting fate or incurring a large solicitor's bill. There is still a strong taboo attached to talking about death. We want to convince people that making a will is an important part of planning for the future.

"The lawyers contributing to the day will explain what would be involved in making a will and what the cost might be."

The first event will be on Friday, at Sacriston Community Centre, Front Street, Sacriston, and the second at the Volunteer Centre, Clarence Terrace, Chester-le-Street, on Thursday, May 10.
