CHEAP and healthy food will be on offer when Redcar's first Good Grub Club opens its doors tomorrow.

Two years ago, dieticians from the Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust launched the first club in east Cleveland to provide a place for local people to meet, cook and share ideas for creating cheap and healthy meals.

Since then funding from Teesside Health Action Zone, has allowed a network of clubs to open across the area and some clubs have even branched out to provide catering for local events. The first club in Redcar is the 11th to be set up.

Dietician Fiona Taylor said: "People in east Cleveland have really taken the Good Grub Clubs to their hearts, and we hope that with the support of neighbouring groups this new one in Redcar will be equally successful.

A taster session will be held tomorrow from 11.30am to 1pm to launch the club, at the Youth and Community Centre, in Ayton Drive, Redcar.

All local people are welcome to attend to find out more about the club, enjoy a free buffet and pick up a bag of free fruit.

A creche will be provided during the session.

The club's first full meeting will be held at the centre next Tuesday, starting at 10am.
