A MAN who broke into the same flat twice to raid an electricity meter was jailed yesterday at Teesside Crown Court.
Paul Wennington, 24, of Harrison Street, Darlington, admitted burglary in the street in which he lived and burglary with intent to steal at the same address the following month.
Wennington, a heroin addict, also admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance in Yarm Road, Darlington, failing to appear at Sedgefield Magistrates' Court, and a charge of theft.
The court heard that he raided the electricity meter at a flat in Harrison Street and stole £18. A month later, he returned to steal again, without success.
Judge David Wood sentenced Wennington to 18 months in prison for the first burglary, 12 months for the second and four months for driving while disqualified and theft, all to run concurrently.
No sentences were imposed for the no insurance and failure to attend charges. Wennington was also banned from driving for a further 12 months.
